ITANAGAR, Jul 16: Industries Minister Nyato Dukam today informed that a committee will soon be established to develop a new Industrial Policy aimed at attracting further investments.
This announcement was made following a coordination-cum-review meeting with senior officials from the Departments of Industries, IPR & Printing, Trade & Commerce, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Labour & Employment, Textile & Handicrafts, and Sericulture.
The meeting, held at the DK Convention Centre, was chaired by Minister Dukam and in presence of Dr. Mohesh Chai, Advisor to the Minister of Industries, etc., along with secretaries and directors from the involved departments and other officers. The meeting was also attended by Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board chairman Rotom Dagam.
Dukam emphasized that the new Industrial Policy will draw from comprehensive stakeholder inputs to ensure the policy fully realizes the state’s industrial potential while maintaining investor-friendly measures. He also called for robust coordination among departments to explore and capitalize on opportunities that will enhance the dynamism and success of these departments. Assuring full support, he highlighted the political will within the government, which he expects will be matched by departmental efforts for the people’s welfare.
Advisor Dr. Chai advocated for forward-thinking policies tailored to the state’s unique needs, urging the identification and communication of opportunities to eligible beneficiaries. He underscored the critical role of the Departments of Industries, Trade, and Commerce as the state’s growth engines, and stressed on the importance of strengthening these departments through teamwork and close coordination.
During the meeting, officials from each department presented PowerPoint slides, detailing various challenges, opportunities, and strategies for moving forward.
