ITANAGAR, Nov 1: The foundation day of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Delhi, Lakshadweep and Pudducherry was celebrated at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on Wednesday. Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) and the First Lady of the State Anagha Parnaik along with the people from 8 States and 5 Union Territories participated in the programme.
The Governor said that 1st November is a red letter in the history of India as a large number of States and Union Territories from north to south and east to west were founded on the day. He highlighted the assets of every State and Union Territory and similarities of these States with Arunachal Pradesh.
The Governor thanked the people of the States and UTs celebrating the foundation day for their contribution in the developmental progress of Arunachal Pradesh. He also appreciated the cultural presentation by them.
The Governor said that participation of people from every part of the nation, celebrating their foundation day in other States, strengthen the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. He said that it enhances interaction and promotes mutual understanding between people of different States and Union Territories, which will reinforce a sustained and structured cultural connection in the areas of language learning, culture, traditions, music, tourism, cuisine, sports and sharing of best practices. 
Highlight of the function was the presentation of ‘Thiruvathira’ and ‘Kaikottikali’ dances by Malayali troupe and ‘Bhangra’ by Punjab group. Large number of people from Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, North Eastern Institute of Science and Technology, Central Reserve Police Force, Indo Tibetan Border Police, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, business houses and Government departments participated in the programme. The Governor and the First Lady of the State interacted with them over high tea.
