ITANAGAR, Nov 9: In the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’, the foundation day of Uttarakhand was celebrated at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on Thursday. Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) and the First Lady of the State Smt Anagha Parnaik along with the natives of Uttarakhand, working in the state, participated in the celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor conveyed the good wishes of all Arunachalis to the people of Uttarakhand. He also reciprocated the goodwill extended by the Uttarakhand Governor.
Parnaik, who has done ‘Chardham Yatra’ spoke about the ‘Devbhumi’ as an educational hub and land of patriotic people. He said that every household has a member in the Indian Armed Forces.
The Governor advised the Uttarakhand people to take back good practices in Arunachal Pradesh. He said that there are lots of similarities between both Himalayan states in terms of traditions, customs, small scale industries and art and crafts.
The Governor and the First Lady of the State interacted with all the participants individually and enquired about the professional life, livelihood and their family members. They also hosted a high tea for the participants.
The people of Uttarakhand, from all walks of life who have been in Arunachal Pradesh for decades shared their accomplishments and challenges. They expressed happiness for being part of the celebration, which was conducted for the first time.
Adding colours to the Uttarakhand Diwas, as a token of appreciation, they brought homemade Garhwali and Kumaoni special dishes for the Governor, First lady of the State and other guests.
As part of the celebration, the audio-visual message of the Governor of Uttarakhand Lt. General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) was played on the occasion.
