Itanagar, May 3: An Arunachalee boy, Bomkey Geiyi has etched an amazing story of fighting drug addiction and opening up a treatment centre especially for female addicts.
Sober Sisters, a residential treatment center has opened in Guwahati, Assam, with the goal of providing safe care for female addicts. The facility is staffed by female nurses and supervised by doctors specializing in psychiatry and gynaecology.
There isn't sufficient numbers of good facility in Northeast India that treats female addicts using gender- sensitive methods, he said.
Geiyi, a native of Lepa Rada district in Arunachal Pradesh had a long history of drug misuse but has now returned to normal society after finishing rehabilitation.
In an interview, he opened up about the losses he suffered as a result of his abusive habit, including broken relationships, financial ruin, and bodily harm. Geiyi expressed his commitment to the cause of assisting people in overcoming drug addiction now that he is back in society as a sober individual.
With drug addiction being such a widespread and concerning issue, it is very remarkable to hear stories of rehabilitation and success among youngsters of Arunachal. Despite several instances of Arunachal youngsters regaining sober living, many find it challenging to maintain it in the face of persistent risk factors, mostly attributable to the state's easy access to narcotics.
