Dibang Valley among 30 best performing districts in India

 

Itanagar. Jul 1: A team of delegates led by Ratan Anya, Chairperson, Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) and representing various departments from Arunachal Pradesh attended the one-day national review cum consultation workshop on implementation of the Joint Action Plan on prevention of drugs and substance abuse among children and Illicit trafficking in New Delhi on June 30 last.
The programme was organised by the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in collaboration with Narcotics Control Board (NCB) and was participated by representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, United Nations Organisation for Drugs Control (UNODC), Chairperson and Members of all State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCRs) and officers from the Department of Police, Women and Child Development, Social Justice, Health, Education and Excise of all the states. 
Ratan Anya gave a detailed presentation on the status of actual implementation of the JAP in the state. Later in the programme NCPCR also felicitated the Collector/ District Magistrate of 30 best performing districts amongst which Dibang Valley District of Arunachal Pradesh was adjudged one of the Best Performing districts in the country. Ms. Jalley Umpo, ADC, Dibang Valley District received the award on behalf of the district. 
During the review meeting, NCPCR advised the Department of Education of all states to take immediate action for creating Prahari Clubs in all government and private run schools in the state through which rigorous awareness is to be made about the ill effects of drugs and substance abuse among children. It also suggested the states for opening of separate Drug Rehabilitation Centres focusing on drug abuse cases of children and advised the Department of Health of all states to initiate digitization of selling of Schedule H and X drugs and actively monitor its sale procedure in all pharmacies across the states in order to reduce illegal sale and usage of such drugs among children and youths. 
The representatives of various departments from Arunachal were Amit Roy, IPS, DIGP of Police Deptt,  Lobsang Tsering, Commissioner Tax, Excise & Narcotics Deptt, Sangita Yirang, Joint Secretary WCD, T P Loyi, Director WCD and Jalley Umpo, ADC Dibang Valley District.
