Likor, Dec 18: Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society, Yingkiong branch conducted a one-day legal awareness programme at Likor village, Upper Siang with theme -know your rights and fight for your rights- in collaboration with the District Administration, DLSA and Dept of Women and Child Development. The ongoing programme is being sponsored by the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women, Itanagar.
The Chairperson APSCW Ms. Kenjum Pakam and Ms. Komna Moidam, Member APSCW who arrived at Yingkiong on Sunday attended the programme at Likor village today.
While addressing the gathering, Chairperson Pakam spoke on the importance of women empowerment, gender equality, female education, health, hygiene, discouraging polygamy and mandatory registration of marriage etc. She also exhorted the womenfolk that even though they are living in remote village like Likor yet it is very important that every women should be aware of legal rights and privileges related to women.
Similar awareness programme will be held at Mopom, Katan and Pongging villages. DIPRO
