ITANAGAR, Mar 14: Expressing concerned over the increasing atrocity against the students of North-East studying outside to pursue their career, the Arunachal Pradesh Women Welfare Society (APWWS) has strongly condemned the alleged physical attack on Hegio Gungtey, a student of Christ University, Bengaluru by the house owner on March 6 last.
Asserting that most of such sensitive cases fade away after parents and relatives of the victim are left to fend for themselves, APWWS while extending full moral support to Gungtey’s family called for speedy trial to bring immediate justice.
Also taking strong exception on repeated racial attacks on North-eastern students outside the state, APWWS has called upon MoS Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju and state government to pursue the matter with Karnataka government and investigating agency there.
“We are also Indians and cannot tolerate such atrocity and discrimination against our children,” it said appealing Rijiju to draw certain measures to thwart such incidents in future.
