PASIGHAT, July 28: Chairperson Arunachal Pradesh State Human Rights Commission (APSHRC) Bamang Tago, today visited the Juvenile Observation Home & Sub Jail at Pasighat to take stock of the functioning, provision of amenities, and other measures in place for the inmates.
Tago while expressing overall satisfaction also offered some suggestions, and noted the need for infrastructure up-gradation. The visiting APHRC Chairperson stressed on reformative approach with a humane touch as even those in conflict with law are entitled to human dignity.
At Sub-Jail, Pasighat, Tago accompanied by EAC cum Superintendent of Jail, Sanjay Taram and OC Sub jail Kalom Jonkey, including others visited all the cells and interacted with the inmates. He was also briefed on the medical checkups, hygienic products & sanitation, welfare measures and eligible facilities extended to the inmates.
During his visit to the Juvenile Observation Home, Tago accompanied by DDICDS cum Nodal Officer, DCPU, Machi Gao, among others inspected the faculties and offices and buildings. Tago also interacted with the children and distributed fruits and sweets.
DDICDS cum Nodal Officer District Child Protection Unit ( DCPU), Machi Gao briefed that under Mission Batsalaya, the Juvenile Special Home is catering to the needs of all children in conflict with the law in the state adding that child friendly hearing process, vocational training, recreation activities. dietary and all activities for rehabilitation and re-integration is taken up.
