Yingkiong, Sep 28: In a bid to empower women and girls through skill development, Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women, Itanagar in collaboration with Sikiing Koje Charitable Society Yingkiong conducted a daylong training on ‘Bead Making’ at Bandu Dere Yingkiong today.
APSCW Chairperson Ms.Kenjum Pakam who graced the program as chief guest in her address asserted that learning any new skill is the first step towards women empowerment and independent thinking. She advised the participants to take full advantage of the training to skill up and become job providers instead of job seekers.
She informed participants about various initiatives of the government to empower and foster women participation in all fronts.
Ms. Pakam said ‘these certificates that you have received by participating here will always be useful to you later. The government also contributes a lot in creating self-help groups to make women self-reliant so that they become economically independent and strong in the society. She further said that ‘along with routine works,’ the Commission always tries to promote the women of our state through skill development and other awareness activities.
CDPO Ojing Talom also spoke and appreciated the initiative of APSCW and Sikiing Koje Charitable Society collaboration to educate and help many women and girls to develop skills for better future.
APSCW member Ngurang Nama also spoke and exhorted the participants to always participate with full dedication and sincerity in such training in order to learn skills to make themselves self- reliant and financially independent.
Altogether 105 women including school girls took part in the training imparted by the resource person Gekyam Jijong, President Banggo Women Welfare Society Yingkiong and her team. Certificates were also distributed to all participants.
