ITANAGAR, Nov 22: The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) on Wednesday said it is dropping the demand of 'Null & Void' from its charter of demands regarding 'compromised' examinations conducted by Arunachal Pradesh Public Services Commission (APPSC).
The committee announced to reserve the demand for "null and void", for legal scrutiny citing that the particular demand has caused a standstill of the entire movement and therefore overshadowed the other crucial demands which deserves immediate address.
The Pan Arunachal Joint Steering Committee (PAJSC) has appealed to Chief Minister Pema Khandu for a round table meeting to resolve the APPSC paper leakage scam through discussion and to bring a logical conclusion to it.
Therefore, the committee in a letter submitted to the CM has appealed for an appointment on November 29 next.
Tadak Nalo, PAJSC Vice President, addressing the media at the press club here on Wednesday, said that the committee has observed that the specific demand is potentially hindering their ongoing efforts to garner widespread support and obstructing decisive action from the state government in this critical matter.
He said that the demand for "null and void" of the exam is now bestowed for legal discourse. However, he expressed confidence that civil society organizations, CBOs, student bodies, and parents of affected individuals will join forces to pursue the remaining 12-point demands without reservation.
"Though the committee has reserved the outcome of ‘null & void’ to the legal deliberations, we appeal to the state government to immediately address the remaining 12-point demands. Also, there are few additional demands which should also be acted upon,” he said.
The additional demands includes the construction of statue of honesty honouring Gyamar Padang at 6 Kilo, immediate revocation of the suspension order against PAJSC Chairman Techi Puru, reward to the kith & kin of Gyamar Padang, implementation of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2023, after incorporating inputs from PAJSC, immediate withdrawal of all charges against protesters and compensation for those injured during the public bandh on February 17-18.
Furthermore, the PAJSC also demanded the announcement of the Gyamar Padang Bravery Award to recognize the indomitable spirit of the man who dared to challenge corrupt forces.
Highlighting the 14-month struggle of the PAJSC against the APPSC paper leakage scam, Nalo expressed discontentment towards the state government for the negligence, and sidelining the issue without a logical conclusion on a matter which concerns the future of the youths.
“We also want to send a clear message to the students that it's not the PAJSC disrupting the commission from holding examinations or forming the commission. Moreover, it is the commission which is still to work out comprehensive standard operating procedures for conducting exams,” he said.
He said the APPSC scam is a mass murder of the future of the students. Surprisingly, only 10% of the scam has been exposed so far by the investigating agency.
“The grant of bail to the kingpin of the scam, Taket Jerang, clearly indicates the level of investigation conducted by the agencies. This shows the intentions of the state government. Such precedence negatively impact the aspirants as well as the public,” he added.
