PASIGHAT, Dec 9: Sponsored by ‘The House of Commons’, Pasighat, the APLS East Siang Unit organised an ‘Open Mic' program at Pasighat. A number of participants enthusiastically took part in the event along with their parents who also recited and sang their own compositions.
APLS (ESB) President Ponung Ering Angu, welcomed the gathering and spoke on the importance of literary events and its advantages. She asserted that such events serve as building bridges and links between different communities adding that language being no barrier to the new generation. "It is also a beautiful celebration of an art form, which helps in inculcating knowledge besides encouraging creative habits in children and the younger generation while in the process of discovering and appreciating the hidden talents in society," she said.
During the open mic program, each participant passionately presented their self-composed poems, spoken words in their creative way, which included young performers, the youngest being a six year old girl.
The child participants were presented with mementos by APLS (ESB) to encourage them to continue this passion forward.
Cultural Secretary Dr. Ponung Pertin and Convenor Gaby Miyum Diyum also spoke on the occasion.
