ITANAGAR, Oct 28: The All Nyishi Students Union today clarified that they are not against the creation of the proposed Bichom District, however, said they are appealing to the concerned authority to follow transparency in the procedure and produce a map for the said district.
Speaking to the reporters at the press club on Saturday, Vice President Rahim Yangfo stated that Chief Minister Pema Khandu's statement on the proposed Bichom district has created confusion among the people of East Kameng about the map and its boundaries.
ANSU is not against any community or demands for a new district but as a community student body, we have to interfere in the issue as the statement has created confusion amongst the denizens, Yangfo said.
The proposal for the creation of Bichom District should be initiated with prior intimation to the All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU), as it believes that the existing boundary of East Kameng should not be affected by the proposed district, he added.
Communities residing in East Kameng district have been living together in peace since time immemorial but the proposed district reorganization may create conflicts or deviate from our shared goals of unity, diversity, peace, and prosperities, added Yangfo, who is also the Chairman of the issue.
