Itanagar, Jun 27: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today refuted allegations made by Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress (APYC) and denied its participation in observing ‘Black Day’ along with the state BJP where the effigy of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was burnt on June 25.
The ABVP is a students' body dedicated to the welfare cause of students and has no political involvement, it said in a statement.
The ABVP, Arunachal Unit, is deeply hurt by the irresponsible comments made by the stalwarts of Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress during the press briefing where they directly blamed the ABVP without proper verification. The ABVP laments that responsible post holders of a reputed national political party like Congress, is making irresponsible and unverified childish remarks and comments.
The ABVP is a well established students' body that has been rendering non- political but student-oriented services since its inception in 1949, the statement further read.
Furthermore, the ABVP also expressed concern over the incident at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Bordumsa in Changlang District, where approximately two dozen students of Class VIII were injured due to ragging and bullying by few students of Class XI. The students body while condemning the incident said that such kind of behaviour is unacceptable and bullying and ragging should not be practiced by any student.
