NAMSAI, June 30: Continuous rainfall since the last five days has resulted in all the rivers in Namsai district and Wakro Circle of Lohit district flowing above the danger level affecting some 34 villages.
The Water Resources Division, Namsai has informed that the Kamlang River has entered into the Barreng River due to heavy flow, affecting all the villages in the left bank of Kamlang River including Alubari & Napotia. More over the Tengapani River has entered into the Tiyang River due to overflow of its basin. Also the Jengthu & Noa-Dehing River are flowing above danger level.
Residents have been asked to be on high alert and not to go near the river banks in order to prevent any untoward incident. The WRD said that assessment of structural damage will be carried as soon as the water level recedes.
