Ruksin, Oct 3: The 21st Odam Ering Memorial Football Tournament (OEMFT) begun on Tuesday at the Ruksin general playground with much fanfare. 
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, East Siang Deputy Commissioner, Er. Tayi Taggu formally kicked off the tournament while EE RWD) Jorsing Moyong, DSO (Sports) Ajong Sitek were present as Guest of Honour and Special Guest respectively.
Organized by the Legong Banggo Sports Association (LBSA) under the aegis of the District Football Association (DFA), the tournament is conducted annually in memory of Odam Ering, wife of Late Dr. Daying Ering and mother of Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering. 
Altogether 37 teams are participating this year in the championship. Winner and runners up team will be awarded with cash prizes of Rs. 1,00,000- (one lakh) and Rs 50,000 (fifty thousand) respectively.
Stressing on fair-play, DC Taggu stated that the participants must be disciplined and enthrall the soccer-lovers showing their best talents. Sports could teach players a lot about failure and dealing with a difficult outcome and foster unity and brotherhood, he added. The DC appreciated the organizing President and Secretary General Tabom Saroh and Opang Jamoh  for organizing the tourney in a befitting manner and conveyed his gratitude to the Ering family for sponsoring the tournament.
Among others, Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering, Ruksin ADC Tajing Jonnom, all six ZPMs of Ruksin subdivision including hundreds of soccer lovers witnessed the spectacular opening match played between Borguli and Detak FC teams in which the former defeated the latter by a margin of 5-3 goals. The final match will be played on October 26 next.
