Gracing the valedictory function as Chief Guest, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu in his address said that positive effects from sports are achieved primarily through physical activity and ultimately bring many health benefits such as psychosocial and personality development and helps to refrain from bad habits like alcoholism and drug menace etc. Giving “no to drugs and yes to life” mantra, he stated that physical activity and exercise have significant positive effects in prevailing or alleviating mental illness, including depressive symptoms and anxiety. The DC further highlighted about the development of sports and rankings of Arunachal Pradesh at North-East level adding the performance of India in the recently concluded Asian Games.
Altogether eleven schools (boys) participated and the GSS Motum and GHSS DEM emerged as winner and Runners up respectively. Out of eight schools (girls) IGJGHSS secured their position as winner and DEMGHSS was the runners up.
Organizing chairman DDSE Odhuk Tabing highlighted the recent achievement of Arunachal sports persons particularly of East Siang and spoke about potential of school going children in nation building and advocated against drug menace and its ill effects.
The District Sports Coordinator (DSC) Tanya Padung delivered tournament summary and briefed about all upcoming sport curriculum (events) of the district.
