ITANAGAR, Jun 28: A 16-year-old girl in distress was rescued by a dedicated police team from Pakke Kessang district following a distress call received by the Administrator of the Child Helpline (1098) WCD Control Room in Itanagar.
The Superintendent of Police (SP) Pakke Kessang, Tasi Darang, swiftly constituted a rescue team to address the situation. The rescue operation was carried out by Officer-in-Charge PS Pakke Kessang, SI Tage Kapa, Constables Pagge Taluk and Tater Siga, Lady Constable Minam Tayeng, and District Child Protection Officer cum CDPO Shri S.C Tok.
The girl, approximately 16 years old, a resident of Gelahatinga, Itakhola in Biswanath District, Assam was rescued from Gumte village, Rilloh, Pakke Kessang on the afternoon of June 28.
Upon inquiry, it was revealed that the minor girl had been brought to Gumte village by her mother,  15 years ago. Since then, they had been restricted from returning to their home in Assam.
The rescue operation was conducted smoothly, and the girl was safely handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Pakke Kessang. This was done in the presence of her mother, ensuring that the child would receive the necessary counseling and legal assistance to address her situation.
The Pakke Kessang Police and the District Child Protection Unit have been lauded for their swift and efficient action in rescuing the girl and ensuring her safety. Further legal formalities are being conducted to provide the victim girl and her mother with the required support and rehabilitation, stated a release.
