BORDUMSA, Jun 26 : In a shocking incident at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in Goju Bordumsa, fifteen Class VIII students were brutally assaulted with sticks by senior Class XI students. The violent ragging episode came to light after some of the victimized students reported the matter to the school authorities and their parents.
The severity of the injuries prompted concerned parents to visit the school and lodge an FIR against the offending students, demanding immediate legal action.
A parent, speaking to the media, confirmed the FIR had been filed and stated that five students have been detained for questioning about the incident. "There must be something wrong within the students, but no one should take the law into their hands," the parent emphasized, calling for strict action against the perpetrators.
Despite repeated attempts, school authorities refused to comment on the matter involving the students.
Ningroo Brangseng Maio, General Secretary of the Singpho Youth Organisation, strongly condemned the incident and called for exemplary punishment for those involved. "Due to this incident, many junior students are traumatised and unwilling to stay in the school. We appeal to the authorities to take immediate action and restore faith among the students," Maio stated.
This incident follows a similar ragging and assault case reported a few months ago at Sangay Lahden Sports Academy, where junior students were also targeted by seniors. The academy was closed for a couple of weeks, and strict actions, including termination from the school, were implemented.
The JNV Bordumsa incident has sparked widespread outrage and highlighted the urgent need for stricter anti-ragging measures within educational institutions. Parents and community leaders are united in their demand for justice and safety for all students.
