Namsai, Aug 18: The 11th Li-Ning Dorjee Khandu Memorial State Badminton Championship 2024 officially commenced with the theme "No to Drugs, Yes to Badminton." 
The opening ceremony was graced by Health Minister Biyuram Wahge, who was the chief guest. The event was held in the presence of several esteemed dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, several other lawmakers.
Wahge in his address commended the participants for representing their districts, highlighting that this in itself is a significant achievement. He also emphasised the importance of maintaining discipline both in the tournament and in life.
Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein underscored the need for sports coaching in the state to help athletes reach national and international levels of competition. He also encouraged the youths to read biographies of renowned athletes to understand their struggles and gain inspiration.
The event included an oath-taking ceremony by the players, marking the official start of the championship. The 11th Li-Ning Dorjee Khandu Memorial State Badminton Championship, a key event in the state’s sports calendar, is being held in Namsai this year. It is organized by the Namsai Badminton Association under the auspices of the Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA). 
Over the course of five-days, from August 18 to 22, players from 26 districts, including participants from Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy, APP (Sports Control Board), and RGU will compete in the tournament.
