ZIRO, May 29: COVID-19 almost caught us off guard. The state struggled to equip the frontline departments with life saving gears and equipments. But thanks to the untiring efforts of the administration, police and the health department under the able leadership of CM Pema Khandu , the state has been able to maintain the green zone label so far.
In these untiring efforts the contribution of the NGOs and Civil Societies also needs a special mention. In Lower Subansiri and Ziro in particular, COVID monitoring and prevention teams have been constituted by almost all the villages.
In Hong village , Bullo Babu who is the Chairman of the All Hong Development Committee which also acts as the COVID Monitoring and Prevention Committee for Hong Village is a sleepless man. From mobilizing volunteers to man the entry and exit gates of Hong village to constituting Flying Squads and surveillance teams at the village level to ensure people follow home quarantine rules in letter and spirit, Bullo Babu has a say in all the activities.
He has also provided food to all the migrant labourers and the frontline workers of his area and fuel for the surveillance teams.
“The most important thing is to ensure that our people who have arrived from different parts of the country strictly follow all the SOPs issued by the government. We in the village level will ensure that the people advised for home quarantine strictly abide to it,” Bullo Babu says.
In reorganization of his remarkable contribution to the society and the nation against COVID-19 and his generosity and humanity during the lockdown period, Udaikaushal Foundation Trust, Jaipur awarded him a certificate of appreciation. Also the Anti Corruption Foundation of India and the Human Rights International Federation presented him the National Corona Warrior Award.

Bullo Babu , son of Late Bullo Gyunto is also the President of All Niichi Niiti Youth Organization (ANNYO).
Our villagers across the state have shown a tremendous maturity in dealing with COVID-19. From activating the existing age old quarantine system by preventing movement of people to and from the village and adhering to the government orders, the villagers have proved to be more sensible.
In Hari village, Hage Dolo, President of Hao-Lemba Covid Prevention Committee has been chairing series of meeting to ensure the village is safe from COVID. This committee will assist the District Administration appointed Nodal officers and ASHAs in monitoring the Home Quarantine Returnees and surveying the feasibility of Home quarantine in Hao- Lemba.
This battle against this invisible enemy is a long one. Conscious efforts from all the stakeholders and following the advisories and SOPs issued by the government is our only way in combating this battle.
