ZIRO, Jun 8: In view of the increasing positive cases of COVID -19 in Arunachal, villagers in Ziro valley, Lower Subansiri district have enforced local lockdown from June 1 to June 30 next.
Villages like Hija, Mudang Tage, Hong, and Siiro have self-enforced local lockdown. More villages are expected to enforce the same in the coming days.
President, Mudang Tage Youth Association, Tadu Laji Omo of Mudang Tage village informed that people are only allowed to enter villages with mask, sanitization, and proper Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). "We are not against anyone but in view of the increasing cases of COVID-19 this is just a precaution."
Since morning 8 am to 9 pm our volunteers are doing their duties in the locally made check gates so that no people can enter without valid reason, he said. He also added that after June 30, members will have a meeting with senior citizens and villagers regarding the extension of the self-enforcement of lockdown in the villages.
Among others, Kago Laji- President, All Hija Student Union of Hija Village, Punyo Raja, Advisor - Siiro Youth Association-Siiro Village and Mudang Omo- Member, All Nichi Niitii Youth Organization of Hong Village also spoke about their local lockdown in the villages.
