Ziro, Jul 11: In the wake of 12 COVID -19 positive cases surfacing in Lower Subansiri resulting in student and youth organizations demanding for a district lockdown, a consultative meeting was held in the office chamber of the Deputy commissioner today.
After a threadbare discussion it was decided to impose a partial lockdown and postpone the proposal for a complete lockdown.
Assuring the student and youth leaders of no lapses in the SOP issued by the government in handling returnees from outside the state, Deputy Commissioner said,
“A partial lockdown can be initiated immediately. We will work out modalities to restrict unwanted public movement by enforcing market opening timings in a staggered manner, stricter local lockdowns in the villages and extending the existing curfew."
Answering to the demands for restricting the entry of people from Itanagar as well, she assured to intensify checking at the district check gate and restrict the entry of private people unless in case of medical emergency.
She also informed that an order in this regards has already been issued on Friday last restricting entry of persons from outside the state (even with valid ILPs) and instructing the returnees to complete the mandatory quarantine period at SQC, Lekhi.
Meanwhile she also appealed to all the youth leaders to assist the District Administration in sensitizing the people on the rules of lockdown and health and hygiene.
She also strongly cautioned against any public programs by private parties or even government organizations during this pandemic.
SP Dr. Hemant Tiwari, IPS briefed about the security arrangements in the CCCs and checkgates. DMO Dr. Tage Kano highlighted about the present health scenario in context with COVID-19.
Amongst others Town Magistrate Tame Yajum, EAC Bamin Tarang, DDMO Nima Drema, Hibu Tamang, President AYA and representatives from All Ziro Hapoli Youth Association, Lower Subansiri Students Union and Apatani Students Union attended the meeting. DIPRO
