Ziro, Apr 1: The Apatani Youth Association (AYA), which is currently continuing its Clean Election Initiative 2019 with the theme ‘Money Free & Fair Election’, conducted the ‘Platform Speech cum MOU Signing’ with the contesting candidates of 17th Ziro-Hapoli assembly constituency on March 31.
This historic and one of its kind program of the state was conducted with support from All Apatani Gaon Bura Welfare Association (AAGBWA) and attended by both the MLA contesting candidates Nani Ribia (INC) and Tage Taki (BJP). The whole programme was witnessed by TSD, AWAZ, ASU and a large number of public who gathered at Dree Ground, Biirii in Ziro.
The programme included platform speeches by both candidates and question round from the public and media to the candidates and a cross question each by both the candidates and signing of a 13 point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) pledging to make the election free and fair by them. The President and Secretary of AAGBWA were the signatories of the MoU as witnesses.
AYA launched the Clean Election Campaign in July, 2018 and since then the NGO had conducted a series of phase-wise awareness programme at every village and educational institute and had garnered support from various youth organizations and Gaon Buras of the valley. AYA Press Release
