Ziro, Mar 11: Liiga Leyu Multipurpose Cooperative Society which is engaged in activities such as integrated farming of piggery, fishery and vegetable gardening etc conducted its first annual general body meeting at Pyuli Pooping on Wednesday.
Attending the programme as Chief Guest, District Veterinary Officer Dr. Hano Tama while highlighting the availability of local markets of these products, exhorted the youths to venture into agri-allied and veterinary related activities. “There is a saturation in government job sector and it is thus necessary for our youths to select other viable options like agriculture, fisheries, horticulture and veterinary activities,” he added and gave details of the flagship programmes and other activities undertaken by the Veterinary department. Speaking on the occasion, state gold medallist DRCS Gyati Kobing highlighted the guidelines for formation and operationalization of cooperative societies. District Fishery Officer Laigi Lasha dwelt at length about the schemes and activities for unemployed youths available from the Fishery department and  highlighted the programmes under Mukhya Mantri Neel Kranti Abhiyaan and exhorted the youths to avail the benefits. “The present government is providing all sorts of subsidies and support to enable our youths to initiate sustainable activities. What is required is focus and dedication,” he added, assuring guidance and assistance to the seekers.
Deputy Director Agriculture Bamin Takar and Chief Promoter, MPCS Gyati Gambo also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, DVO Dr. Hano Tama inaugurated the office of the Liiga Leyu Cooperative Society and inspected the piggery, fish ponds and vegetable garden along with the officers from allied departments.
