ROING, Apr 23: World Book Day was celebrated today at  Kendriya Vidyalaya, Roing premises with active participation by Lohit Youth Library Network.
The celebration was inaugurated by Roing SP Sanjay Kumar Sain, IPS who urged the students to read extensively the biographies of famous people for personality development, instead of confining to just text books. “Achievers in life have built their future by reading wide and well. Hence take to extensive reading,” exhorted the SP.
Principal KV Roing, Deepak Kumar said that the school will be glad to organise more such programmes in the town to promote and strengthen reading habits of the youths.
Explaining the vital importance of reading, the Coordinator, Lohit Youth Libraries  S. Mundayoor outlined the various activities the library network has been conducting over the last 12 years to reach good books to those students, teachers and parents who do not have access to such reading materials.
Later, after going round the book exhibition put up by Lohit Libraries, SP declared a gift of books worth Rs. 5000 each to Kendriya Vidyalaya and Shemrock Primary School, Roing for participating in the World Book Day celebrations.
A range of excellent books of NBT India, TERI New Delhi, Tulika Chennai, Eklavya Bhopal, Sri Ramakrishna Math Chennai, Kalpavriksh Pune and Ektara Bhopal were on display.A special attraction was a book corner on Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam by a local book lover and a poster exhibition of paintings by the youths of Roing, organised by the district administration in December last.
