Indian Army conducts ‘Know Your Army’ outreach
Itanagar, Feb 15: World Anthropology Day was conducted at Dera Natung Government College, Itanagar. The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Ratna Tayeng, HoD, Anthropology. He spoke on the background of World Anthropology Day celebration, which was started in 2015 by the American Anthropological Association.
Speaking on the occasion, DNGC Principal Dr. M. Q. Khan appreciated the department for organizing such a fantastic program. He advised students to be tolerating, accepting and accommodating individuals and at the same time critical of everything we learn.
Altogether, 68 students in the BA final semester of Anthropology shared their experiences and findings of their fieldwork at Lapnan village. The topic included, birth, marriage and death ceremony, customary law, folklore, political institution, economic institution, family and kinship system, indigenous knowledge, fairs and festivals, belief and practices, conservation of natural resources, health and folkmedicine etc. The program ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Mibi Riba, Assistant Professor, Anthropology. As many as 212 students participated in the celebration. The program was hosted by Gopi Riba and T. Miti Boko, Assistant Professors, Department of Anthropology.
