Book on Traditional Festivals of Arunachal Pradesh released
ITANAGAR, Dec 2: World AIDS Day was observed on December 1 across the state with the theme "Know Your Status Live life positively”. Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society in association with an NGO, Being Arunachal, organized AIDS awareness Musical Concert at Eco Camp in Doimukh.
MLA Laisam Simai, attending the programme as chief guest called upon people to equip themselves with knowledge about HIV so that the disease can be prevented from spreading further. He also asked people for voluntary testing in order to know their status. While appreciating the role of APSACS in creating awareness about HIV in the state, he asked everyone to extend voluntary support to APSACS in order to control and eliminate HIV from the state.
Joint Director, Family Welfare, Dr. S Bhattacharjee while attending the programme stressed on the ABC of HIV prevention where A stands for Abstinence, B stands for Be faithful to ones partner and C stands for condom usage. He also highlighted the services available with APSACS for HIV prevention and control in the state.
Dr. A. Borang, Project Director in-charge, highlighted the aims and objectives of the World AIDS Day. Focusing on the theme of this year, Dr. Borang said that HIV testing is essential for expanding treatment and ensuring that all people living with HIV can lead healthy and productive lives. It is also crucial in achieving the 90–90–90 targets and empowering people to make choices about HIV prevention so that they can protect themselves and their loved ones.
Kuku Ringu, president of Being Arunachalee, in his address reaffirmed the NGO’s commitment to work for the welfare of the people in the health and education sectors without any profit motive.
The winner of MMC Rock competition and Jomli Koyu from the Reloaded enthralled the participants with their music while creating awareness about HIV.
