ITANAGAR, Mar 9: “Police personnel and lawyers are watchdog of society in whose custody the security and justice of common citizens rely upon,” said Director ATI, Pate Marik while addressing a one day workshop on “sensitization programme on Human Rights” held today at ATI, Naharlagun today.
He pointed out that violation of human rights especially in our tribal society, nowadays has become rampant  due to infusion of diverse culture and different social dimension.
“The protection of citizen’s rights and security should be carried out in missionary zeal by the law enforcing agents of the government,” Marik stressed.
He later urged the participants to enhance their skills and knowledge on sensitive human rights protection management from time to time.
The workshop was sponsored by National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), New Delhi with an objective to promote human rights literacy and create awareness about section (12) of Human Rights Act, 1993.
All together thirty seven participants attended the programme comprising panel advocates and police officers.
SP, Papum Pare, Tumme Amo, senior advocate, Sunil  Mow attended as resource persons of the day.
