BOMDILA, Jan 6: One day workshop on grassroot democracy and voters awareness was conducted at Bomdila under the chairmanship of DC cum DEO(PR) Dr Sonal Swaroop today.
It was conducted to impart awareness on electoral process and grass root level democracy to the ex- PRI members, public leaders and members of various NGOs and community based organisations. Resource persons spoke of various topics like local self govt., evolution of pr and municipality in Arunachal Pradesh, role of state election commission, model code of conduct, rights of voters and duties and responsibilities of political parties and media.
DC cum DEO while addressing the workshop said that “it is important to know roles, responsibilities, powers and function of local bodies at grassroot level. Empowering oneself provides you with a tool to perform your duties better”. She also requested all the public leaders and representatives to disseminate the knowledge obtained during workshop among the local people of their villages for better awareness generation. The workshop was attended by Administrative officers, HODs of various departments and GBs, ex-PRI members and public leaders of West Kameng. DIPRO
