PASIGHAT, Feb 25:A 3-day hands-on training cum workshop on freshwater fish taxonomy concluded here at Jawaharlal Nehru College, Pasighat. The workshop was organised by Institutional Biotech Hub, Jawaharlal Nehru College (IBH-JNC) Pasighat in association with Jawaharlal Nehru College Museum of Fishes (JNCMF), Dept. of Zoology JNC, Pasighat.
While speaking at the inaugural function Principal JN College, Dr. Milorai Modi emphasised that such hands on training cum workshop would be highly beneficial to life science students and young researchers and it will help in the scientific documentation and conservation of fishes of our state.
The workshop covered both theoretical and practical aspect on the topic viz. field techniques, morphometric measurement and meristic counts, important diagnostic characters, osteology, best photographic techniques and photo editing, and basic statistical methods used in taxonomic study.
