MEDO, Aug 24: ‘Read to Learn Workshop’, a novel programme to connect library habits to learning for senior students was organised by Medo Youth Library from August 22-23 at the Brahmakumari Centre Hall, Medo. The workshop was conducted by the Forum of Activists of Lohit Youth Libraries, a new NGO formed by senior reader-activists to popularise and strengthen the youth library movement in rural, reading-deprived areas. Students of the Medo Government Secondary School and a few other schools in Wakro Circle participated.
Inaugurating the Workshop, Dr. Sopai Tawsik, Chief Patron, Medo Youth Library lauded the forum for taking a novel initiative to target senior students and help them improve their academic levels through library activities. He exhorted the student–participants to become readers and volunteers at the Medo library and advance their education standards. The workshop sessions were targeted to help the student-participants hone their reading skills as well as improve their command over English vocabulary through fun-activities, quite distinct from a class room teaching approach.
