AALO, Sep 21:A day-long orientation training cum workshop on Deendayal Anthodaya Yojana, National Urban Livelihood Mission, was conducted by the Department of Urban Development and Housing  here today.
The workshop witnessed a record turn up of around 2000 Women street vendors at Gumin Kiin. More than 3000 women of 
West Siang were registered and issued Street Vendor Cards by the department.
Addressing a mammoth gathering as the Chief Guest, West Siang Deputy Commissioner, Sode Potom disclosed that the street vendors are instrumental in fetching all the needs of the consumers and the Department of Urban Development and Housing is doing 
its best to ameliorate their working condition. He exhorted the womenfolk to maintain the spirit to participation in all such 
workshops and awareness camps from time to time targeted to uplift their condition. He also urged them to be an integral part of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan being launched all over the district.
The Deputy Director Urban Development and Housing Er. Hally Welly and UPO, Er. Nyatum Bagra dwelt at length on welfare measures being initiated by the department and sought cooperation of all to make it a success. Resource persons, Dr. Tomar Kamki, DFWO, stressed on food safety, health and hygiene, advocate Gumli Bagra highlighted briefly on introduction to AP Street Vendor (Protection of Livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Act 2011 and Higam Loyi, former ZPM and representative of Galo Ane Safai Abhiyan elaborated on cleanliness in markets.
