ROING, Mar 23:The womenfolk of Roing today welcomed Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) on Two Shaft Handloom Weaver. The first of its kind initiative organized by Chanu Creations (Project Implementing Agency) in collaboration with AMYAA NGO-Roing under National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) & Textile Sector Skill Council (TSC) was held at Mayu-II Rehko Hall, Roing.  

Deputy Commissioner, Lower Dibang Valley, Mitali Namchoom urged the womenfolk to work and strive towards economic development through Handloom activities in her address to the 196 women trainees comprising mainly of SHGs from the district who attended the programme.

Chief functionary, AMYAA, RK Paul, said, “The essence of this initiative is more like expression of appreciation for the efforts that the womenfolk have put in to learn and develop their skills of handloom weaving. You should come forward and further hone your skills and manufacture hand loom products not only for home use but also for the market. This has immense implications of income generation for the womenfolk and also their empowerment.”

The launch of the RPL-PMKVY targets recognizing the handloom skills to beneficiaries across Lower Dibang Valley District of Arunachal Pradesh. Chanu Creations further intends to maintain and develop a symbiotic relationship with AMYAA NGO to work for empowerment of Women through socio-economic activities such as Skill Development training in weaving.
