Jairampur, Jun 6: In order assess the preparedness level to accommodate the spiralling number of returnees consisting of students and workers for the mandated quarantine tenure, local MLA Laisam Simai on Saturday took stock of the situation and visited various quarantine centres here in Jairampur Sub-division.
The MLA was accompanied by Jairampur ADC Ibom Taoo, Changlang district BJP Unit President KN Tikhak, BJP Mandal President Kimlong Longri, In-charges of quarantine centres, Rapid Response Team and monitoring & surveillance team. This was his third visit to the quarantine centres which covered the Sports Complex, ADR Building, Tourist Lodge, Horticulture Guest House, Horticulture Type III Quarters and PWD IB Nampong. Simai interacted with the inmates and boosted their morale by assuring that best-possible care and services have been provided.
He also asked the people not to panic regarding the growing number of Covid-19 positive cases in Diyun, Miao and Bordumsa Circles as inter-circle people and vehicular movements have been restricted. Simai inquired about the quality of food and services extended to the quarantine inmates and received the feedback to be of top quality. He also found the basic minimum hygiene facilities to be satisfactory as per protocols and sanitation standards and applauded the officers and officials engaged in Covid-19 related duties and asked them to maintain the team spirit.
Considering the huge influx of returnees, the MLA has ordered to prepare a new quarantine centre and for that the vacant World War II memorial museum building has been converted into a quarantine centre on a war footing for which all necessary logistics had been provided.
