Aalo, Aug 6: The Town Middle School has achieved the distinction of being declared as the first plastic free school in West Siang district.
This has been achieved as a result of sustained maintenance of high sense of discipline and cleanliness and the Headmaster of the school, Degam Ete had already been conferred with State Award for excellence for such works during his service life. Dividing the students from Class VI to VIII into four groups as Gandhi House, Nehru House, Tagore House and Sarojini House, the Headmaster assigned three teachers in each group to guide and take up the task of cleanliness in a competitive way. As a part of the plan, each House has to carry out cleanliness work for at least 15 days on roster basis.
The effort has proved to be a noble way to groom Government schools in a manner to regain their lost glories at a time when private schools in the state are gaining popularity. DIPRO
