Aalo, Jun 2: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Moki Loyi reviewed the implementation of the odd/even rule of plying of vehicles and imposition of night curfew with Nodal Officers, Magistrates and police here at his office chamber on June 1 last.
DC stressed on publicity of the new system through public announcements, hoardings and scrolling news in local TV channels on the initial days and strict checking and imposition of penalties thereafter as the day progresses. Nodal Officers of the quarantine centres have also been asked to strictly monitor the inmates and those released after tests be brought under vigil of the respective village HGBs, GBs, Sectors & Bazar Secretaries for observing a strict 14-day home quarantine. The neighbouring districts have also been appealed to provide the names of such released persons having residences here in the township to keep vigil on their movements.
Vehicles carrying essential commodities have been asked to enter the district after 5 pm for unloading and depart before 7 am in the morning to avoid crowding in market places.
Vehicular movements in the township have seen a drastic reduction after implementation of the odd/even rule and on the second day on Tuesday all even number vehicles were allowed although there were a few odd vehicles which came out on the roads due to ignorance.
Meanwhile, the weather-proof social distancing sheds meant for the bank customers continue functioning and the volunteers from Kibom Age Old Welfare Society are engaged in daily task of dismantling them in the evening and erecting on the next following morning. DIPRO
