BOMDILA, Jun 12:  With three people testing positive for COVID-19 the day before in the district, the DIPRO office Bomdila intensifying its COVID-19 IEC campaigns formally launched the programme for the whole district of West Kameng today under Arunachal Rising Campaign (ARC).
As panic, social stigma and rumours would be abundant and rampant in the initial stages on account of the positive cases in the district, DIPRO cum chairman IEC COVID-19 campaign Gocham Taga directed the seven handpicked dedicated Gram Preraks to prioritize allaying fears and apprehensions of the people, to educate people especially the villagers against social stigma and curbing rumours and fake news among others.
He also asked the Gram Preraks to motivate parents, CBOs, NGOs and other stakeholders for attaining 90% Full Immunization coverage by December 2020 and also to educate youths on the ill-effects of drugs and other related substances besides educating and motivating villagers for taking up organic kitchen gardens and cluster farming for self reliance.
Various publicity materials including banners, study materials, pen drives, three thousand face masks, five thousand soaps, Identity cards, POL items and cash amount for minor expenses and toffees for children in order to connect with them were issued to the Gram Preraks today at Bomdila after the briefing.
Unofficially, the IEC campaign on COVID-19 under ARC had begun since May last in the district and a total of 38 villages have been covered as of date out of the total 265 villages. DIPRO
