BOMDILA, Mar 28: Keeping in view the urgency of the situation, a marathon meeting to fine-tune the Covid-19 combat efforts in West Kameng district was conducted on Saturday here at the district headquarters which was participated by all administrative officers of the district’s fourteen Administrative Circles, police, officials from the departments of Health & Family Welfare, Food & Civil Supplies, Disaster Management, UD & H Secretary, Bomdila Town Committee and other stakeholders.
The administrative officers shared the status and preparedness level in their respective Circles and drew attention of the DC, SP and DMO towards the need for certain arrangements and reinforcements. Underscoring the importance of creating awareness under Information, Education and Communication (IEC), Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki assured the administrative officers that the mechanism that has been set in motion will ensure availability of essential commodities in the district. However, he asked them to put forward the requirements of rice, if any, so that necessary arrangements could be made for its immediate procurement. Urging for judicious use of available resources, DC assured of tying up with the GOC, 5-Mountain Brigade stationed in the district in the fight against the pandemic. In order to increase the intake capacity of quarantine facilities, he directed the UD&H Department to expedite the construction works of the new building of General Hospital Bomdila and underscored the need for promoting online services to contain the virus which in turn would facilitate social distancing.
To deal with the reported instances of students currently under home quarantine but stepping outside and some people not complying with the lockdown dos and don’ts, SP Raja Banthia advised the administrative officers to take coercive measures without exceptions. He further assured changes and deployments of police personnel as per requirements in the Administrative Circles. It was decided that in addition to the already earmarked facilities, private hotels and lodges in the district would be identified and earmarked as isolation facilities as a part of the Covid-19 preparedness.
DMO, DSO and MS General Hospital Bomdila also briefed on the prevailing situation, status and preparedness level in the district and urged the people not to venture out, maintain personal hygiene & isolation and most importantly adhere to social distancing and refrain from panicking. DIPRO
