PASIGHAT, May 4: Continuing with their efforts in fighting drug menace in East Siang district, the Women Against Social Evils (WASE) has helped the Pasighat police in nabbing drug peddlers who were arrested after an FIR was lodged by them.
5 persons were arrested vide Pasighat PS Case No. 89/2019 U/S 21(b) NDPS Act.
WASE General Secretary, Joya Tasung Moyong who has also been recognized by the state government with a gold medal in recent time for her and team WASE’s pivotal role in crushing down rampant drug menace in the region, said that they received a confirmed message from their secret network about the arrival of a brown sugar peddler at GTC, in north of Pasighat town. “After getting the information, we informed the police after which we jointly made the sudden raid and the peddlers werenabbed red-handed,” added Joya with deep sense of satisfaction.
As per WASE sources, the police seized a few packets of brown sugar, a scissor, some cash notes used for inhaling drugs, matchbox, cigarettes etc from the possession of the drug peddlers.
The team WASE has deeply appreciated the police team for their quick response and has also expressed thankfulness to the officer-in-charge of Pasighat PS, Inspector Atan Taki for ensuring prompt arrest of the drug peddlers.
