CHIMPU, Jul 11:Home Minister Kumar Waii exhorted the police force of the state to work tirelessly for the cause of state security as well as to shoulder responsibility as a citizen too by participating in all developmental activities.

He was speaking to the gathering after inaugurating the Police Officers’ Mess and Walking Track at Police Complex here today.

Lauding the Arunachal Pradesh Police and Arunachal Police Housing &Welfare Corporation Ltd (APH&WCL) for their selfless work towards development of police force, Waii said despite fund crunch several infrastructures came up in various parts of the state and efforts to modernise all assets with technology are also underway.

Waii appealed to the personnel to work with a vision, unity and a mission to serve the community, society and state at large. He urged them to maintain cordial relationship with each other.

Director General of Police, SBK Singh elaborated on various activities of the APP and various developmental initiatives since his joining and during his tenure as IGP earlier.

The Officers’ Mess consisting of three Type-V Quarters, four Type-IV Quarters and 32 Type-III Quarters was approved in 2010 and has been funded through the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) scheme of Ministry of DoNER.

It is pertinent to mention here that the project which cost Rs. 879.10 lakhs despite delays in releasing the funds, APH&WCL has successfully completed the project. Apart from 12 rooms, the Mess also has a gym, library, and a lounge to cater to the needs of officers. In addition, there is a 700 m long Walking Track designed and constructed for walking and jogging around the Police Ground.

All senior police officers of APP and officials of APH&WCL were present on the occasion.
