Tawang, Nov 26: A District Level Workshop on ‘Grassroots Democracy and Voter’s Awareness’ sponsored by the State Election Commission was organised today here at Zomkhang Hall by the District Election Officer (PR) Tawang which was attended by young voters, members of various political parties, Ex-PRI members, women organizations and HoDs.
I/c DC Cum DPDO Tawang Lobsang Tsering and CO (Election) Sangey Norbu in their Power Point Presentations threw light on the evolution of Panchayati Raj, importance of the institution of Gaon Burah, Committees on Panchayati Raj, Model Code of Conduct, election offences etc and recent amendments with regard to Panchayati Raj in Arunachal Pradesh. Prior to this workshop, another Sensitization and Consultative Workshop on Arunachal Pradesh Drinking Water Catchment Area Protection Bill was organised at the same venue jointly by the District Administration & Department of Public Health and Water Supply where public and representatives of villages were given information about the proposed bill and its importance. Feedback and suggestions from leaders, officers and general public were also taken.
