ITANAGAR, Aug 26: Residents of about 400 households spread across Lower Subansiri District received free legal awareness cum counselling in a week long mass legal awareness campaign from August 19-25.
The campaign was conducted by the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the Lower Subansiri District Student Union. Several villages including eight schools were covered under the campaign.
The objective of the campaign was to make the villagers, GBs and students of rural areas aware of the availability of free legal services for the poor and needy people especially the marginalised section of society, where and how to avail it and thereby make justice easily accessible for all.It is a follow up of the Moto of the Legal Services “No one should be denied justice because of economic or any other disability.” Availability of free legal services, legal aid clinics, Lok Adalat, Arunachal Pradesh Victim Compensation, Domestic violence Act, Various Schemes of Central and State Govt. were stressed upon in the village and community level while working of  JJB, CWC & SJPU under JJ Act and POCSO Act, 2012  was emphasised upon in the schools  in the campaign.
The campaign was carried out by seven Trained Para Legal Volunteers of Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority who are also students of Arunachal Law Academy (ALA) along with other student members of Lower Subansiri District student Union. Newsdesk
