CHIMPU, Oct 5: The 25th Vishwakarma Football Running Trophy 2019 got underway today here at Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 ground with more than 32 teams, including a team from Manipur in the fray.
The tournament is being organized by the Lion Club, Chimpu and will conclude on October 27. Speaking at the inaugural event, T K Engineering Consortium Pvt Ltd Chief Managing Director, Techi Rotu lauded the organizers for hosting the event and said that participation of 32 teams including the one from Manipur is itself a matter of huge encouragement. Asserting that such events give platforms to youths to channelize their energy and skills, Rotu said that despite lack of infrastructure in the state, youths taking an active part in sports is praiseworthy. He also welcomed the team from Manipur and urged all players to play the tournament with sportsman spirit.
Meanwhile, in the inaugural match played between T Group FC and Young Generation FC, the latter defeated the former by 1-0. Damin Ruru of the winning side scored the lone of the match in the 37th minute.
