TEZU, Apr 8: The virus load of the state’s lone Covid-19 positive patient has seen a marked decrease after the second test. This has come as a major relief for DMO Dr S Chai Pul and the entire army of frontline health workers.
“The patient is asymptomatic and doing well and we hope the third test scheduled on April 14 will reflect this downward trend. Adequate diet, sanitization of the isolation ward and 24x7 relentless watch is being provided by our frontline team of 12 members which includes two doctors, four nurses, two sanitary assistants and four Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS),” DMO disclosed.
“We are optimistic that the patient will recover soon. Electric jar with tea leaf and sugar have been provided and he has been advised to drink hot water and take hot meals. It is a challenge for us that we are handling the first Covid-19 positive patient in the state,” she said.  The frontline team members attending the patient are being repeatedly trained and mock drills in donning and removing headgear and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are also being conducted, DMO shared, adding that the Zonal Hospital is also getting holistic support from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Chief Secretary and Commissioner, Secretary Health.
Medical Superintendent Dr C Tayang said the entire hospital  is  being sanitized  regularly and separate flu corner has been created for OPD patients. Delivery cases and other routine healthcare services are continuing as usual, he informed.
It needs to be mentioned that the state’s first Covid-19 positive patient from Medo travelled to Nizamuddin in Delhi during March 14-16 and was admitted to the  Zonal Hospital here in the isolation ward on April 2 last.
