WANU/KANUBARI  Dec 11: Hundreds of women from  Wanu Village of  Kanubari sub-division, Longding District under the banner of All Wanu Women Association(AWWA)  took to the streets to protest against the cultivation, consumption and selling of opium and IMFL(Liquor) in the village. 
Opium marketing and addiction has been increasing drastically in Wanu since the last couple of decades with very little effort made to contain it and is posing threat to the lives of the youhts,’ said Lihkhaw Wangcha, President, All Wanu Women Association (AWWA). 
She further added that Wanu has huge number of opium addicts. Our elders are addicted to opium just like our forefathers who were introduced to it by the British. There is no getting away from it now but we don't want our youngerbgeneration to continue this trend, lamented the President.
