ITANAGAR, Mar 11: Reiterating their demands, the family members of late Risso Tari, who was killed in the recent anti-Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) agitation has appealed the political leaders to refrain from politicizing the deaths of the three youths.
The family members have been demanding immediate handing over of security personnel responsible for the death of the trio to them, declaration of all the three slain youth as martyrs of anti-PRC movement, renaming the land near Indira Gandhi Park as Martyrs’ Ground and erecting their statues.
“I would also like to make it clear that the movement that we have launched against the government is not politically motivated as alleged by some of its leaders. We are fighting for justice, not for personal interests,” said Risso Kiagong, the brother of late Tari while addressing a press conference today.
Expressing reservations over the inaction of the state government towards their demands, he also informed that they have submitted a memorandum to the Governor demanding arrest of the culprit(s) behind the murder of Tari at the earliest and their handover to them.
“Even if the law of land does not allow us to punish the ‘murderer’ we want the government to at least identify and reveal the personnel’ name to us,” he appealed.
It also accused the DySP, Security cell, PHQ, for allegedly creating a false and fabricated report on Tari’s death to bury the case and hide evidence.
According to family members, the official in his report allegedly mentioned that some persons came in an ambulance and dropped the lifeless body of Tari near the Civil Secretariat gate at around 1.30 am on February 23 which was later taken to the hospital whereas he was actually killed at around 11.30 pm on February 22.
Justifying its claims, Kiagong said they can produce the people who were with Tari when he was killed, before the authority concerned if needed.
Further, the family also reiterated suspension of the Capital DC and SP for their alleged failure to contain law and order during that day.
