Aalo, Jul 4: The Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department of West Siang district led by SVO Dr. Sidik Raksap along with police carried out a three-day ante-mortem examination of poultry birds here at the meat market and rejected 50 such as “unfit for human consumption.”
Later, 65 broiler chickens were rejected after thorough examination, poured with phenol and some were also seized for being sold without ante-mortem certificate issued by the department. SVO disclosed that the examination was necessary as a precautionary measure against swine flu and contain the practise of random unhygienic sale of meat procured from neighbouring states in the market.
The step was a follow-up action after permission by the District Administration to import poultry bird and fish maintaining strict SOPs. DIPRO
