ITANAGAR, Jul 7:  Home Minister Bamang Felix launched the first ever Verification Mela here at Dorjee Khandu state convention center. Local MLA Techi Kaso, DGP SBK Singh, SP Capital Tumme Amo and other officials also attended the event.
The Verification Mela for tenants and employees of capital complex is being organized jointly by the Capital Police, Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) along with the District Administration, Market Welfare Associations of Itanagar, Naharlagun & Nirjuli. The mela is being set up at DKCC hall, Itanagar, KV No 1 School at Naharlagun and Nyokum  Niya Hall Nirjuli.
The objective of the mela is a positive initiative toward a peaceful society, said the Minister while appealing all the tenants and employees especially from other parts of the state and capital region who are residing in capital complex. The verification process is not to distinguish anyone but just a record to identify and verify so that during any emergency possible help can be conferred, added Felix.
Local MLA Techi Kaso also appreciated the initiative and appealed all the people who are from other states to verify themselves to get all kind of help and support  from police and the administration.
Elaborating about the mela, Superintendent of Police, Capital Complex Tumme Amo  said ‘this step will help the police and administration in detecting, identifying as well as preventing crimes in the area.'
There are many rent houses in the capital areas with people from all over India and other parts of Arunachal Pradesh. Many shops, hotels, and other business establishments are run and operated by outsiders but sadly we have little or no background checks on the people living amongst us. This identity and address verification will help us in solving many cases sooner or later. Also, by verifying outsiders, we can also keep a check on any criminals from other states from entering our home state, added the SP.
People from different states are to collect the verification forms available at the office of the Superintendent of Police, Itanagar, PS Itanagar, PS Naharlagun, PS Nirjuli and offices of the ACCI, Market Welfare Associations and submit it with a copy of their identification.
