ITANAGAR, Nov 4: The Venkateshwara Open University Social Responsibility Club (VSRC), a voluntary student group of the university donated school shoes, socks and other basic necessities to the underprivileged students of Government Middle School, Lekhi here on Monday.
Vice-Chancellor of VOU, Professor Lalit Kumar Sagar said that the club was formed to encourage poor students and exhorted the members to continue repeating such noble examples. Appreciating the initiative, he also gave assurance to support such social works in near future. Registrar, Professor Anant Kumar while donating the materials to the students encouraged the club members to visit the nearby government schools to collect data of needy students. Further, he motivated the students to study hard and keep vision for the future.
“We noticed that many children of this school do not have the basic necessities. Therefore, our club decided to sort out those poor students where we found more than 25 students from Class III and IV without proper uniforms and voluntarily donated 25 pairs of shoes and socks to them,” Chairman of VSRC, Assistant Professor Jenson Pangging said.
The donation drive was led by General Secretary of VSRC, Yumgo Shera in presence of all its executive members.
