YINGKIONG, Feb 21: A special awareness campaign on ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ was organized in Upper Siang district on the occasion of Statehood Day on February 20 in the general ground Yingkiong.
On the occasion, the school grants under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme were given away by the Minister (H&FW), RD and Panchayati Raj Alo Libang, in presence of Deputy Commissioner Upper Siang District Karma Leki and a host of government officers and public of Upper Siang district.
Government Higher Secondary School Yingkiong, Govt.  Town Secondary School Yingkiong, Government Upper Primary School Daggong, Government Primary School Marying and Government Primary School Kong received the grants. Amounts of Rs. 20,000, Rs. 15,000 and Rs.10,000/- were given to the secondary, upper primary and primary schools respectively. Besides, publicity materials like T-shirts and calendars were distributed to the public.
Street plays were also performed in the general ground, adjoining village and markets of the district. DIPRO
